Kia
Simon wanted to make a film that would stretch
her creatively and be a collaboration with other
artists. So she had an open call for choreographers
that were interested in doing site specific dance
for film. These choreographers came back with
the following concepts.
Chris
Black and Lydia Bueschel of POTRZEBIE wanted to
do a dance about movement and interaction (or
lack thereof) on public transit taking place entirely
in BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit).
Jo
Kreiter wanted to do a dance in a crime ridden
urban alley that reclaimed the space through dance.
She created aerial dance moves on the fire escape
and the edge of the roof of a three story residential
hotel.
Elise
Brewin and Elizabeth Solomon of pieces of e dance
exchange wanted to create movement and then fit
it into spaces where dance isn't usually found,
like the interior of a car, altering the movement
to accommodate the restrictions of the location.
